Referee Julia Kainberger has been selected by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) as one of twelve referees for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games. The Salzburg-born official will serve as a referee at the women’s Olympic ice hockey tournament in Italy, after already having participated as a linesperson at the Beijing 2022 Olympics. In December 2023, she became the first female head referee to officiate a game in the win2day ICE Hockey League. Read more

Tommy Purdeller of HC Pustertal was voted Young Star of the 2024/25 season. The 20-year-old forward won the vote, which was taken by fans and TV experts from Austria, Italy and Slovenia, with almost the maximum number of points ahead of Marcel Mahkovec of Olimpija Ljubljana. Tobias Sablattnig of EC-KAC finished in third place. Read more
The rush of fans in the 2024/25 win2day ICE Hockey League season remains unbroken - so it is hardly surprising that the magic mark of one million fans was already broken during the quarter-final series. On the fourth quarter-final matchday, three of the four arenas were completely sold out. It is the first time since the 2018/19 season that this impressive figure has been surpassed again. Read more
The voting for the Young Star of the 2024/25 season is open. You can vote for the winner of the season until Tuesday, March 11 at 10:00 pm. The five monthly winners are up for election. One player each of HC Pustertal, Olimpija Ljubljana, EC-KAC, EC Red Bull Salzburg and Steinbach Black Wings Linz are nominated. Read more
The journalists of the win2day ICE Hockey League voted John Hughes of EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2024/25 regular season. It is the second Most Valuable Player award for the top scorer of the Regular Season. The Canadian wore the Ljubljana jersey in the 2011/12 season, when he was already voted MVP once. Read more
