Dante Hannoun of the HCB Südtirol Alperia got suspended for one game because of an incident deemed as unsportsmanlike conduct.

Dante Hannoun (#12) of HCB Südtirol Alperia, time 46:53 was involved in an incident deemed as Unsportsmanlike Conduct (IIHF Rule 168). The video evidence and game officials report was taken into consideration and determined supplementary discipline is required.

According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and game officials report, Matthew Finn (#4) of Dante Hannoun (#12) of HCB Südtirol Alperia, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 168 – Unsportsmanlike Conduct.

On January 14th in Bozen a unsportsmanlike conduct incident occurred involving HCB Südtirol Alperia forward (#12) Dante Hannoun. A match penalty was assessed by the on-ice officials.

As the video shows, Dante Hannoun received a cross check to the area of his head, in which the game officials assessed a 5 minute + game misconduct penalty to the opposing player. It is assumed that through the action of receiving a stick foul to the head area, Hannoun was emotionally charged, when he committed a violation of the rules pertaining to sportsmanship, fair play, and respect.

However, emotionally charged or not, the importance of a player containing the emotion of the game to a legal means, is of the up most importance. In this case, the potential of a 5 minute power play was eclipsed by the action of Hannoun, who washed out a potential Bolzano power play, by also receiving a 5 minute + game ejection in receiving a match penalty.

After receiving a stick foul, which caused an initial or apparent injury in the form of blood, Hannoun responsibility is to skate in the direction of his players box. Instead, after standing up, Hannoun wiped his face and then skated in the opposite direction of his players bench. With 2 opposing players and 1 game official, present Hannoun flicked his hand, with the assumption and for sure potential of blood present. The hand flick gesture, is considered unsportsmanlike and disrespectful.
