20 ICE Hockey League players nominated for the Olympics

On Tuesday, host nation Italy became the last country to announce its Olympic roster for the Games in Milan/Cortina (6–22 February). A total of 15 players from the win2day ICE Hockey League made the squad and can look forward to a very special highlight. Additionally, three ICE players were named to Denmark’s roster, and one player each made the rosters of France and Latvia.

The win2day ICE Hockey League is thus strongly represented at the Winter Olympics in Milan/Cortina. Host Italy relies on eight players from HCB Südtirol Alperia, six from HC Falkensteiner Pustertal, and one player from Olimpija Ljubljana. Italy’s group-stage opponents at this season highlight are Sweden (11 February), Slovakia (13 February), and Finland (14 February).

Furthermore, three ICE players – from EC-KAC, Moser Medical Graz99ers, and Pustertal – were named to Denmark’s roster. Jesper Jensen Aabo from EC-KAC will also have the great honor of leading his country as flag bearer at the opening ceremony in the legendary Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. The rosters of France and Latvia also feature one player each from the multinational league, namely from Steinbach Black Wings Linz and Pioneers Vorarlberg.

The Olympic hockey tournament begins on 11 February and concludes with the final on 22 February as the last highlight of the Winter Games.
