35 ICE players in the World Championship squads of Austria, Slovenia and Hungary | KAC trio representing Denmark

On Friday, the puck drops in Stockholm (SWE) and Herning (DEN) to mark the start of the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. With Austria, Slovenia, and Hungary, three nations represented in the win2day ICE Hockey League will take part. A total of 38 players from the multinational league have made it into the World Championship rosters of these teams – 35 for Austria, Slovenia, and Hungary, and three for Denmark.

Each national team was allowed to nominate 25 players for the upcoming World Championships. Austria's squad includes 17 players from the win2day ICE Hockey League. Team manager Roger Bader called up seven players from the reigning champions EC Red Bull Salzburg. Four players from runners-up EC-KAC were nominated. In addition, the Moser Medical Graz99ers have three cracks, while one player each from the Vienna Capitals, the Pioneers Vorarlberg and the Steinbach Black Wings Linz are represented in the squad.

Slovenia and Hungary also in top division
While only one nation from the win2day ICE Hockey League, Austria, was represented in the top division last year, this year there are three. This is because two more ICE nations, Slovenia and Hungary, achieved promotion last year. Slovenia's 25-man squad includes ten players from Olimpija Ljubljana. In addition, Ken Ograjenšek, a player from Steinbach Black Wings Linz, has also been nominated. Hungary has seven players from Hydro Fehérvár AV19 in its World Championship squad.
