In the Alps Hockey League nine games are scheduled from Wednesday till Friday. Among others the rematch of last year's final series between the HC Pustertal Wölfe and the HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana takes place. The Rittner Buam meet the EK Die Zeller Eisbären on Wednesday and could at least temporarily draw level to the leaders from Bruneck. The league second, the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan faces the EC-KAC II.

In the first of the two games on Wednesday, the EK Die Zeller Eisbären meet the Rittner Buam. The guests from Ritten played in the Continental Cup for the promotion to the semifinals last week but missed this as a runner-up. In the Alps Hockey League the Buam last played on October 12th. Against HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice they have won with 5:4 OT. In the league table the South Tyroleans occupy currently the third place. The EK Die Zeller Eisbären lost both games last week and slipped to the 10th place in the league table. In the direct duels Ritten is clearly superior to the „Eisbären“. They won five of the six duels.

Also on Wednesday, the EC Bregenzerwald meets Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey. It will play the 16th in the league table against the sixth. The ECB has won the last three home games. ASH is undefeated abroad for two games. Last season Asiago won all four duels against Bregenzerwald. With Steven McParland (20 points) and Marco Rosa (18 points) the Italians have the current number two and three of the scorer ranking in their squad.

In the first of the six matches on Thursday, HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice and S.G. Cortina Hafro play against each other. One of the strengths of the guests this season is the penalty killing. If they were in numerical disadvantage they didn´t concede a goal in 90.9% (2nd place). Cortina is also superior to the Slovenians in powerplay so far. Out of 28 powerplays they scored eight goals (5th place). Jesenice is with a goalscoring of 16.7% in 13th place. It's not just the special team statistics where SGC is top this season. The Italians conceded just two defeats in the current season. Both of them after shootout. In the league table Cortina is therefore in fourth place with 19 points. Jesenice is ranked eighth in the league table. In the H2H, however, Cortina could never win against Jesenice.

The bottom of the league table, the Steel Wings Linz faces the seventh in the league table, the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. While the Linzer were able to win one game after shootout in their debut season in the AHL, Gherdeina has won five of nine games of the season. The guests especially convince in the defensive. With only 24 goals conceded they are in fifth place in the league. The save percentage of Jacob Wesley Smith is 93.6% (5th place). With 48 goals the Steel Wings Linz conceded the most goals of all teams.

The EHC Lustenau travels to the match against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors with at last two victories. The Young Bulls could not win any of their last four games, which is why they are only in 15th place in the league table. Lustenau improved on twelfth place thanks to both victories. The EHC has lost the last two games away, the Bulls have been without a win in their own hall for two games. This duel is also the rematch of last year's quarter-final series. The EHC won the series with 4:3.

With the duel of the VEU Feldkirch against the EC ,Die Adler‘ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel two teams who have lost their last game meet each other. While the VEU lost at Jesenice with 0:4, Kitzbühel lost at Lustenau with 3:4 SO. In the league table Feldkirch is in ninth place with 14 points, Kitzbühel is in eleventh place with twelve points. The guests are enormously strong, especially in the powerplay. With eleven goals in majority, they are currently on third place in this ranking (33.3%). In the past season, both teams could win one time in direct duels.

Due to the 2:5 home defeat against Asiago the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan lost the championship lead to the HC Pustertal Wölfe last Saturday. The EC-KAC II is ranked 14th in the league table. In front of the home crowd the Carinthian could last win for the first time after four defeats. Wipptal is without a win for two games away, but still clear favorite against the KA2, because the redjackets have never won against Wipptal. With Slater Doggett, the Broncos have the league's top scorer in their squad (21 points). As a whole team the WSV is enormously strong, especially in the powerplay. With a goalscoring of 38.1%, they are second in the powerplay ranking behind the Rittner Buam (46%).

The rematch of last year's final will take place on Thursday in Bruneck. The HC Pustertal Wölfe faces HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana. The guests from Slovenia were able to secure the championship title last season in the decisive seventh game at the „Wölfe“. Both teams play a good season so far. HCP has been unbeaten in six games and is top of the league with 23 points. The guests from Ljubljana did not play in the AHL last week but like the Rittner Buam they played in the Continental Cup. With one win from three games, they finished on third place in the group. Previously, they were able to win three games in a row in the Alps Hockey League. With 18 points they are in fifth place in the league table. A big problem for the defending champion is scoring goals this season. Just 6.43% of all shots found their way into the net (17th place). Pustertal has a scoring Efficiency of 10.9% (6th place).

In the only game of the week on Friday, the SHC Fassa Falcons meet the Vienna Capitals Silver. Both teams won their last game. While the Falcons celebrated a 2:1 SO victory at Cortina, the Silver Caps won the first duel of the two league newcomers in front of the home crowd against the Steel Wings Linz with 3:1. It was the first victory for the caps after five defeats in a row. In their own arena Fassa won two out of their three season games. The Viennese are still without a victory away. In the league table the Italians are ranked 13th, the Austrians are in 17th place.
