The second Alps Hockey League season has been a big success: More games (373) have been played, more goals (2.321) have been scored, more spectators (270.889) came into the arenas and some more records have been set by the teams. In the end, Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935 has earned the title.

The second Alps Hockey League season has been a big success: More games (373) have been played, more goals (2.321) have been scored, more spectators (270.889) came into the arenas and some more records have been set by the teams. In the end, Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935 has earned their first title. The “Yellow-Reds” have won the best-of-seven-final-series against the Rittner Buam after a deciding-game 7 (4:3). The team of Head Coach Tom Barrasso has been successful in final-game 7 at home on Sunday 7:5. In the finals 2018 there has been played a deciding game 7 for the first time ever in the Alps Hockey League Playoffs. Besides, all seven final-games 2018 resulted in home-wins. In total 373 games have been played 2017/18. Past season, the Champion (Rittner Buam) was already known after 337 games.

This Alps Hockey League season has been most attended so far: 373 games have been watched by 270.889 fans in the arenas (on average: 726 fans per game). 2016/17, 243.187 fans have seen 337 Alps Hockey League games (on average: 721 fans per game). Most attended were the home-games of FBI VEU Feldkirch, in total 36.863 spectators (on average: 1.602 fans per game) have watched the home-games of the Vorarlberger this season.

The finals 2018 went into a deciding game 7 for the first time in the Alps Hockey League Playoffs. Prior, all 13 Playoff series have been decided latest after game 6. The Quarterfinal series 2018 - FBI VEU Feldkirch (4) vs. HC Pustertal Wolves (5) – have been the first series going into a game 6. The Italians stepped up to the semis.

17 straight wins
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935 has earned their first Alps Hockey League title after setting some records: The Yellow-Reds have won 17 straight games (from beginning of December 2017 until end of January 2018). The team of Tom Barrasso convinced at home too: The Champion won 25 out of 28 home-games, among other games the Champion has been successful in all, 20 straight home-games since middle of November 2017.  This means, Anthony Bardaro and Co. won 90% of their home-games 2017/18 and in total 44 out of 54 games (81,5%).

2.321 goals…
In total 2.321 goals were scored by the 17 teams out of 373 games 2017/18 (on average: 6,22 goals per game). 2.131 goals were potted in the regular season and another 190 goals were netted in the Playoffs. Past season, in total 2.064 goals were scored by the teams out of 337 games (on average: 6,13 goals per game).
Most goals scored the finalists Migross Supermercati Asiago (216 goals) and Rittner Buam (201).
Most goals (14) have been scored in the game EC “Die Adler” Stadtwerke Kitzbühel vs. HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. The Slovenes were successful in Tyrol on March 3rd 2018 with 9:5. In total 13 goals were scored between S.G. Cortina Hafro and HC Fassa Falcons on January 31st 2018, Cortina won at home 8:5. HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice earned the biggest win 2017/18. The “Red Steelers” were successful in Klagenfurt on November 22nd 2017 by 11:1.

Olimpija made it to the Playoffs in their first Alps Hockey League season and was top in PK
HK SZ Olimpija has been an enrichment for the Alps Hockey League. The Slovenes reached the Playoffs in their first Alps Hockey League season.
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935 has been the best team in Power Play (PP%: 28,8), HK SZ Olimpija has been the best club in Penalty Killing (PK%: 86.1) and HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice has won the fair play statistics in the Alps Hockey League 2017/18 (PIM per GAME: 7.1).
 
The key-players
Anthony Bardaro of Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935 had most points (79) and most goals (37) of the season. Riley Brace of S.G. Cortina Hafro had most Assists (49). The best goalie was Clarke Saunders of HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice with a save% of 93,1% and a GAA of 2.15. Frederic Cloutier (ASH) and Olimpija goalie Robert Kristan followed on place 2, each had a save% of 92,9.
