After Christmas-time the time of derbies begins

After the Christmas Days important derby days are about to start in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. The EC VSV aims to book the first win of the season against the EC-KAC in the 320th Derby. Also the Dornbirn Bulldogs aim to book the fist win against Innsbruck this season. Fehervar AV19 booked important wins in the past round and try to challenge the leader and acting champ Vienna. Linz, Salzburg and Graz on the other side aim to come back on the winning streak.

EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz - HC Orli Znojmo 19:15

  • Both teams lost the past two games.
  • The duels of these two teams in this season were decided by the home teams. Linz won four out of the past five duels against Znojmo in Linz.

Troy Ward, Headcoach Linz: „Until recently our goalies did a great job, in the past games we had problems for the first time. We received too easy goals and Fehervar capitalized on that.”
 
Tomáš Jakeš, Znojmo: “We had trouble to find our rhythm against Vienna in the first period. When the second period started we were able to put a lot of pressure. Vienna is a strong team in three vs. three. We made a mistake in overtime and lost the game. One point is not enough for our current situation.”
 
 
EC Red Bull Salzburg - HCB Südtirol Alperia 19:15

  • Bozen won the past five games and is only trailing by nine points to sixths place.
  • In the first two duels the road teams captured the win.
  • Salzburg had to end the nine games winning streak against Innsbruck
  • Salzburg is currently ranked on the fourth place, with twelve points advantage.
  • The Red Bulls are the best offensive team of the league, they scored 110 goals. Bozen scored 85 goals so far.

  • It’s the 320th carinthian Derby in the history. The KAC won 162 times, the VSV booked 138 duels.
  • The KAC won both derbies this season with one goal difference. Over the season they even booked four derby wins.
  • The VSV booked the last derby win on the 13th November 2016.
  • In the first two duels the teams played 90 minutes with equal number of players. The KAC didn’t receive a single goal in this time
  • The VSV is trailing by seven points to sixths place.

  • Despite of weakest goal difference, Fehervar is on the sevenths place of the standings.
Serge Aubin, Headcoach Capitals: „Fehervar scored eight goals in the past game. This is a proof of their quality. The do have a lot confidence. We need to be concentrated right from the face-off.”
 
Hannu Jarvenpaa, Headcoach Fehervar: “We know that we are facing a very strong opponent. We repsect them but we are not afraid. We have to be ready right from the start and keep our concentration high through the whole game.”

  • After nine consecutive defeats, Zagreb ended the negative run against Villach in the past round.
  • The 99ers lost the past three games and scored only two goals in 180 minutes.
  • The home team booked wins in the first two duels.  In the past game the teams score 12 goals.
  • Zagreb didn’t wiin a home game in the past month. The past win of the 99ers is even two days longer in the past.
  • The two teams are head to head in the standings. Zagreb absolved one game less and has an one point advantage.

HC TWK Innsbruck 'Die Haie' - Dornbirn Bulldogs 19:15

  • Innsbruck and Dornbirn are currently neighbors in the standings and are currently on track for the masterround. Dornbirn has an advantage of five points to the sevenths place. Innsbruck even six points.
  • The first two duels of the season were decided by Innsbruck.
  • Since eight games wins and defeats are changing from game to game for the Bulldogs. Innsbruck won three out of the past four games.
  • Innsbruck won as many games as they lost. Dornbirn has a slight negative balance.
  • The Bulldogs are the best penalty killing team in the league. They received only 17 goals with numerous disadvantage. But the Bulldogs didn’t scored a single short handed goal.
