After a total of 321 games, the EK Zeller Eisbären were crowned the first Austrian champions of the Alps Hockey League last week. This marked the end of an extremely successful and exciting season. 106 matches were decided by just one goal difference, with one or two goals making the difference in 57 per cent of the games. With an average age of 21.48, the league was once again a platform for young players. In addition, spectator numbers (+34 per cent compared to the previous season) and media coverage increased.

To continue the success story in the best possible way, the clubs and the Board of Governors of the Alps Hockey League met at the Red Bull Academy in Salzburg. They discussed the upcoming tenth AHL anniversary season - from proposals for the game mode to overall further development, for which league-internal workshops on marketing and moving image topics were agreed.

Possible AHL return of Asiago
The 13 teams from the previous season also submitted registration for the 2025/26 season and were informed on Saturday of an expression of interest from Hockey Club Asiago 1935. The Italians have enquired with the Alps Hockey League organisation about a possible return. If they fulfill all obligations and receive confirmation from the Italian federation, Asiago will be accepted as the 14th team - a decision should be made within the next two weeks.

Marcello Cobelli, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the AHL: "The past season was another successful chapter for the Alps Hockey League. The league will continue to stand for stability, exciting competition and strong youth development in its tenth anniversary season. We have set the course for this at the Forum. Clubs and federations will continue to be strong partners."
