A dramatic EWHL season came to a spectacular conclusion on Sunday evening with a high-level final that was only decided in overtime. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, fans were in for an exciting return game in Zeltweg.

In the opening period, Aisulu Almaty had a slight edge and took the lead in the 19th minute through Roxanne Rioux. The Sabres quickly responded – just one minute later, Kinga Jokai-Szilagyi netted the equalizer.

The middle frame saw the Sabres generate more scoring opportunities, but they couldn’t beat goaltender Rachel Seeley. In a fiercely contested third period, with the aggregate score tied at 2-2, neither team was able to find the game-winner, sending the final into 3-on-3 overtime. It didn’t take long – Annlise Hayes sealed the deal and sparked huge celebrations on the Aisulu Almaty bench.

PSR Bratislava takes bronze
