Right at the start of the season, on Friday at 7:15 p.m., the Pioneers Vorarlberg face the HC TIWAG Innsbruck away from home. For captain Alexander Pallestrang, the West derby is already the first highlight of the season: “I'm particularly looking forward to the West derbies against Innsbruck. The games against my former club Salzburg are also special.” Watch the first West derby on Friday in the PPV livestream on www.live.ice.hockey. Just 24 hours later, the Vorarlberg team have their first home game. Their opponents in the Vorarlberghalle will be the Hungarian representative Hydro Fehérvár AV19.

The games against international opponents are also interesting for the 34-year-old veteran: “They are always great games against international opponents, sometimes in front of sold-out arenas. We have very good international teams in our league. These teams are definitely an enrichment for the league and it's also fun to play outside of Austria.”

After last season's strong performance, which saw the team reach the quarter-finals for the first time, expectations in the region and within the team have risen significantly. Alexander Pallestrang, who was born in Bregenz, hopes that the growing euphoria will not only fill the arena, but also lead to a season that is just as successful in sporting terms as last year: “The people of Vorarlberg love hockey. You can already see that from the ticket sales. I hope we play a good season and can build on last season and that the spectators enjoy our game.”
