14 teams from Italy (6), Austria (5), Slovenia (2) and, for the first time, Croatia (1) will contest in the 2024/25 season in the Alps Hockey League from September 21. KHL Sisak will take part in the multinational league for the first time for the Croatian association. The league newcomer kicks off its AHL premiere season on September 26 with an away game at HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. The Croatians are playing in the Continental Cup at the start of the season, which is why the actual opening game against defending champion Rittner Buam SkyAlps had to be postponed. The "Buam" start the new season, also on September 26, with a home game against the HC Meran/o Pircher. Last year's runner-up S.G. Cortina Hafro have to face the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers in the season opener. The first matchday also features a Salzburg derby, with the EK Zeller Eisbären hosting the Red Bull Hockey Juniors.

Top 5 teams are in the playoffs
The ninth season of the Alps Hockey League will be played in a new format. Each team will play 39 games in the Regular Season, meaning three games against each club. The top five teams are then guaranteed a place in the playoffs, while the teams in sixth to eleventh place play in pre-playoffs for the remaining three quarter-final tickets. The division into a Master and Qualification Round will therefore no longer apply in the coming season.

Main match days remain Thursday and Saturday
As in previous seasons, Thursday and Saturday will remain the main match days of the Alps Hockey League in the coming campaign. For logistical and infrastructural reasons, road trips are also set for the upcoming season, which means that occasional games will also be played away from the main match days.
