On Wednesday also EC Red Bull Salzburg and EC-KAC start into the semifinals in the Mozart City. It is already the seventh Playoff-series between this two clubs, so far the Red Bulls four times had the better end and twice Klagenfurt was successful. In this season the two teams faced so far six times: The Mozart Citizens four times left the ice as the winner, the Carinthians just twice. But take attention: Four from six clashes 2016/17 needed an Overtime to find the winner.
Both teams had a really good run lately: The Red Bulls won their last four home-games or seven from their last nine games since the International Break in February. Klagenfurt even got ten wins in a row lately and was the last team, that won in the Mozart City. On the other side the Mozart Citizens were the last team, that could beat the Carinthians end of January at Klagenfurt.
Champion EC Red Bull Salzburg is also best known for their good start into Playoff-series: The Mozart Citizens started their last seven Playoff-series with a success and then also won the duel. Besides Matthias Trattnig and Co. started their last three Playoff-series against Klagenfurt with a home-win. „We expect an intense series. We will play hart and hopefully we will have another good start in the series with the support from our fans!“, reported Salzburgs Forward Manuel Latusa. Klagenfurt comes with much confidence to Salzburg on Wednesday, the Carinthians won lately five road-games in a row, inter alia one month ago in the Mozart City: „We must play our KAC-hockey“, demands Klagenfurt’s Head Coach Mike Pellegrims.
In the last four games between Klagenfurt and Salzburg won that team, that scored the first goal. EC Red Bull Salzburg even got a 2:0-lead against the Record Champion infront of their own fans within 32 seconds earlier this season, what meaned a new record in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga.
