After being promoted to the first forward line, Kristler surprised everyone with his new-found scoring touch and completed his third-best season in the league. "The older you get, the more you have to prove yourself. And last year, the coaching staff gave me a chance that I hadn't had for a long time. I was grateful to be able to give something back," says the forward.

The Lienz native has now played a total of 766 games in the win2day ICE Hockey League and has recorded 307 points (142 goals) to date. With 818 penalty minutes, the relaxed family man off the ice is scratching at the eternal top 10 of the most impulsive characters since the league was newly founded. Thanks to his tireless fighting spirit, Kristler has long since played his way into the hearts of the Steinbach Black Wings and will be entering his eighth year at the Untere Donaulände next week.

"Of course, there have been many ups and downs in my career so far. I try to give my best performance in every training session and help the team. Every year you try to prepare yourself to the best. I think we have a good squad and can achieve a lot again," says Kristler, who is particularly looking forward to the home games in the LINZ AG Eisarena.
