Armin Helfer stays in Pustertal | Fassa opens preseason with a victory

Vice champion HC Pustertal Wolves announced the contract extension of Armin Helfer. The 39-year-old defender has already covered more than 1000 games on top-level including 350 games for the Italian national team. Helfer gained 38 points (9G | 29A) during last season in Alps Hockey League. While the EC-KAC II completed its roster for the preseason, the EC Bregenzerwald, S.G. Cortina Hafro and HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice presented contract extensions too. Last year’s bottom placed team HC Fassa Falcons opened the preseason with a clear 8:1 victory against the Toronto Selects.

Besides the vice champion, last season’s quarterfinalist S.G. Cortina Hafro also announced a contract extension. Riccardo Lacedelli remained loyal to the Italians, after he posted 72 points (41 G | 31 A) during the past three seasons in Alps Hockey League. 

Top-Scorer stays at Bregenzerwald
Daniel Ban stays at EC Bregenzerwald for one more season. It will be the fourth season for the right wing with Bregenzerwald. In 103 games he scored 102 points (44G/58A) so far and was Wälder’s best scorer past season (14 G | 26 A). 

Jesenice hires Jaka Ankerst
HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice announced the signing of 30-year-old Jaka Ankerst. It will be the third time that Ankerst plays in Jesenice. In the season 2011-2012 he was part of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga-squad. 2016-2017 he played in the AHL. In the last two years the offensive player was active at Lyon in France. In 2018 he even became French champion.

EC-KAC II announces 25-man squad
The EC-KAC II has announced a 25-man squad who will be part of the training camp for the upcoming Alps Hockey League-season. Part of the team will be 15 players of the base squad. There will also be numerous players who move up from the U18 (goalkeeper Fabian Horn, defender Jonathan Bergmann and Alexander Moser and the forwards Nicolaus Casati, Jakob Jagarinec, Niklas Ofner and Josef Schönett). With Mark Kompain, Michael Rainer and Slovene Rok Kapel, who played in Germany past season, three more forwards will fight for roster-spots. Besides, defender Wolfgang Puff won’t be part of the Carinthians next season, after he played 98 AHL-games in total.
