Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey hired a new head coach as the former Alps Hockey League champion signed Barry Smith for the next two seasons. Further, current league’s runner-up HC Pustertal Wolves tabbed Massimo Carozza from HCB Südtirol Alperia. Moreover, contract extensions at EC “Die Adler” Stadtwerke Kitzbühel and VEU Feldkirch.

Barry Smith becomes new head coach of Asiago
With the signing of 58-year-old American Barry Smith, Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey presented its new head coach for the coming two seasons. The former assistant coach of the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL was part of Swedish team Mora IK’s coaching staff past season. Before he was head coach in France and the Netherlands, coaching also Netherlands national team in 2013. 

Massimo Carozzo strengthens wolves-roster
League’s runner-up HC Pustertal Wolves strengthened its roster with adding Massimo Carozzo. He collected seven points at HCB Südtirol Alperia past season, as he played his first campaign overseas. Club’s press-release indicated that he will be “a key-player” next year. “I feel very honored being part of the wolves in the upcoming season. It will be an exciting part of my career and I am looking forward to play in front of this amazing home crowd”, Carozza said.

Contract extensions at Kitzbühel and Feldkirch
While the EC „Die Adler” Stadtwerke Kitzbühel enlarged the contract with Henrik Hochfilzer, who will play his eleventh season for the eagles, the VEU Feldkirch renewed the agreements with Steve Birnstill and Alex Caffi. After Birnstill arrived from Danish club Frederikshavn White Hawks in 2015, he will start his fifth season in Vorarlberg. Further, he will be part of the youth coaching stuff again. Netminder Alex Caffi stays for one more season, heading into his third one at Feldkirch.
