Alps Hockey League, final 5 (best of seven):
Mar, 10.04.2018: Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935 (1°) vs. Rittner Buam (2°) 2:1 (1:0; 0:1; 1:0)

The news of the match is the lack of Rittner Buam’s defenseman, Roland Hofer, who was injured in the last game of the final. The start of the game was very tactical, with the two teams very aware and the visitors much more disciplined than the first two final experiences at the Odegar where the Buam had shown too much nervousness. The game seemed blocked even if the two teams played a nice hockey, giving the feeling that the result could only be unlocked on an episode. Alex Frei was on the net with Frederic Cloutier who avoided major problems by stopping the puck in two stages. After 14 minutes Giulio Scandella scored the first goal and beat Patrick Killeen in the middle of the leg with a sharp and precise shot. Fabrizio Pace would have doubled for the hosts but he couldn’t find the right time for the conclusion. During the last two minutes the teams was very concentrated as they didn’t give spaces to the opponents.

Second period opened with the Ritten who became dangerous with Alex Frei, able to slip into the rear guard without finding the right space to beat Cloutier. The guests seemed to be more determined and face more insistently in the third defensive of the home team, signing the net of the tie thanks to Dan Tudin (26.). Soon after Bardaro was to touch the net but his conclusion was lost then in a melee after the rejected short of Killeen. The two teams didn’t take the advantage of a series of penalties and when both returned at even strength, Rosa was to try the shot in angled transition without finding the net. The guests tried to overcome the opposing defence going to the conclusion with Traversa, Viktor Ahlstrom and Ploner (which splintered the post), exposing a certain fragility of the defensive of home team. The period ended with the Ritten in constant pressure, with Asiago used the counterattack but the result didn’t change until the second whistle. The Asiago returned to the rink for the third period bringing a numerical superiority (Viktor Ahlstrom in the penalty bench): after a minute and a half was in fact Scandella to fringe on a wandering puck for Rosa who scored 2:1 for the hosts (41.). The Ritten reacted as they continued to press the defence of yellow read. Cloutier stopped the puck several times. The final of the match was very intense, with the Ritten calling time out to organize the last assault in the last minute but Asiago kept the goal ahead. The Asiago won Game 5 and will climb to Klobstein on Thursday with the first match point in the series available.
