Right at the beginning the two teams met on equal terms, Cortina became really dangerous in the first powerplay. But they were denied a goal, Cottam only hit the crossbar. From that moment on, the home side took command. In their first powerplay Josè Magnabosco scored to take the lead. Only a few minutes later, Daniel Mantenuto had the necessary luck on his side for the 2:0.

After Asiago goalie Vallini had the upper hand in a duel with Giftopuolos, Marco Rosa made it 3-0 in the first period with his first goal of the season. Mantenuto converted a rebound at the beginning of the middle frame and only three minutes later Asiago's number 9 celebrated his hat-trick after a mistake in the Cortina defence. With the score at 5-0, the home side managed the result in the final period. With around five minutes to go, Mike Cazzola at least managed to score the consolation goal for the visitors.
