Asiago celebrates comeback victory in Feldkirch

In Tuesday's lone win2day ICE Hockey League game, Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey celebrated a 4:3 overtime win at BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg. The Italians were already down 0:3 after 15 minutes, but equalized with three goals in the final period. In overtime Giordano Finoro secured the bonus point for the guests. Already on Wednesday, the two teams will face each other again in Feldkirch.

The two league newcomers faced each other for the first time on Tuesday. And the Vorarlbergers got off to the better start, after less than three minutes Tyler Sandhu scored on the counterattack. Only a few minutes later it was again the 26-year-old Canadian who put the score at 2:0. Luka Maver ensured with the third goal before the first break for clear conditions. In the middle period, the goalkeepers on both sides excelled, and the score remained 3:0. The Pioneers remained without a goal until the 50th minute, when Allan McShane got the visitors on the scoreboard. The Italians sensed their chances and got within one goal through Randal Gazzola (56th). Asiago coach Tom Barrasso took his goalie off the ice for a sixth skater with a minute and a half remaining and was rewarded, with Giordano Finoro pushing the puck over the line for a 3:3 score. After the Pioneers conceded a late penalty, Asiago went into overtime with a man advantage. And after 74 seconds, Finoro made the comeback perfect with his second goal.
