Alps Hockey League | final game #2 | Thursday, April 22nd 2021:
Do, 22.04.2021, 8.00 pm: Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey – HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana
“best-of-5” final series: 0:1

Ziga Pance’s deflection in overtime decided the first final game in favor of HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana. The Slovenians gave away a 2-0 lead in the last ten minutes, conceding the equalizer through Steven McParland 45 seconds left of regulation. The fact that Asiago was able to fight for victory until the end was also thanks to goalkeeper Gianluca Vallini, who saved 40 shots in the end - twice as many as Paavo Holsa did for the “dragons”.

In the previous three final series of the Alps Hockey League, the team that was defeated in the opener always managed to equalize. Only in 2019 the winner of final game two later became champions.

The Italians won the last two home games against the "dragons". Since December 2020, the "Lions" lost only two of their encounters on home ice.

Asiago will continue to miss Alex Frei due to injury. The forward has averaged one goal per playoff game. However, a comeback later in the series seems to be possible. The second-best goal scorer in the current postseason is Ljubljana's Ziga Pance, who scored the game-winner in the first meeting.
