Asiago qualifies for playoffs, Cortina misses chance for masterround

With a 3:2 success over the WSV Sterzing Broncos, Asiago Hockey has qualified for the playoffs. S. G. Cortina missed the chance to stay in the race for the master round after losing against HC Neumarkt in shoot-out. Because of that VEU Feldkirch qualified for the playoffs without playing. In the third game the HC Pustertal won at the HC Fassa Falcons in overtime.

HC Neumarkt Riwega – Sportivi Ghiaccio Cortina Hafro 3:2 SO
The match was very intense from the start. But neither teams in first period could score. When the match arrived at the end of the first period, there was a great chance for the hosts. Christian Willeit did a nice shot that the goalie Cortina, Martino Valle Da Rin, couldn’t hold but the Wild Goose didn’t managed to catch the rebound in the open net. During the second period Cortina made two dangerous action but Daniel  Morandell saved, while Neumarkt responded with Tobias Steiner. In the middle arrived the first goal: Linus Lundström began a good work in attack and then there was the winning end of Gaspar Ratislav. Neumarkt played better as they scored 2:0 with a Lundström's shot from the slot. In the last period there was immediatly the first goal of Cortina: Tanner Burton scored after a counterattack. The visiting team put so much pressure to break even. In the middle Jan Muzik touched the third goal for the hosts but he failed. Then there was the first penalty of the period against the Neumarkt so Cortina scored in powerplay as Zach Torquato marked with a shot from the blue. The regular time ended 2:2. During the seven-minute overtime neither team scored. On penalties was crucial Florian Wieser's puck. Cortina failed the access to Master Round.

HC Fassa Falcons – HC Pustertal Wölfe 3:4 OT
Fassa tried to stop visitors but the starting of the Wolves was very effective. After six minutes Shyane Wiebe made the first goal. Subsequently In the next three minutes, the Wolves team proved to be very concrete in attack as they realized other two goals. Armin Hofer and Maximilian Lancsar lead to 3 goal the advantage of the guests at the end of the first period. During the second period Fassa answered with more effectively and in the middle time the Falcons play better than the first period. Geoff Walker built the first score while Thomas Dantone fully reopened the race. Then the Falcons even the score over time with Jari Monferone. On 3-3 the game becomes very spectacular: many the wrong occasions by the two teams. Even the overtime was very intense. At 25 seconds from the penalty Raphael Andergassen realized the winning goal for the Wolves who win in Val di Fassa 4-3 in overtime.

Good pace of the game was in the first minutes of the match. Then Asiago grew as they created several chances to take the lead. Giulio Scandella hit the post. Then the pressure of the hosts produced the first goal. Enrico Miglioranzi shoted from the blue: the puck was deflected in the net from Danny Deanesi, player of opponent. Lutz built another dangerous action, but didn’ t score. At the end of time was always Lutz this time he managed to score 2-0 when missing one second to first break of the game. Asiago controlled the game in the second period and also the opponents. Davide Dal Sasso buildt two powerful actions but he didn’t score. Kris Kolanos realized 3:0 with a shot from a tight angle. During the third period there was a first goal of new Sterzing stricker: Zdeněk Bahenský realized after a mistake of the defense of the hosts. Matthias Mantinger also reopened the game as he realized the second goal of the Broncos in penalty killing. The Sterzing put a lot of pressure until the end of the match but Asiago won the match as they reached the 5th place and the secure qualification in the Master Round.
