Nicholas Porco was picked in the 2017 Ontario Hockey League draft by the Saginaw Spirit, where he played until October 2019. He was also drafted in the summer of 2019 in the NHL draft by the Dallas Stars, as the 142nd overall pick. In the fall of 2019, Porco moved to the Barrie Colts, for whom he played 36 games before sitting out due to cancer. The 2020-21 season was cancelled entirely in the OHL due to the Covid 19 pandemic, so the Canadian got a chance to play professional hockey with the Texas Stars in the American Hockey League.

He returned to the OHL last season, playing first with the Barrie Colts and then with Owen Sound Attack. In total, the outfielder played 233 games in the OHL, scoring 115 points (59G / 56A).
