Asiago signs forward Mark Simpson

Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey announced the signing of forward Mark Simpson. After two years in the American Hockey League, the 27-year-old Canadian made his first move to Europe this summer. Simpson played eight games for KalPa in the Finnish Liiga, now the transfer to Italy followed.

In the two previous years he had worn the Stockton Heats jersey in the American Hockey League. With the farm team of the Calgary Flames, he played a total of 55 games, with 7 goals and 7 assists. Before the start of his professional career, he spent four seasons in the QMJHL and another four with the University of New Brunswick.

In the QMJHL, with the Moncton Wildcats and the Acadie-Bathurst Titans, he played 179 games in which he recorded 129 points (46 goals and 83 assists). On the New Brunswick university team, he played with star defender Randy Gazzola, with whom he shared the victory of two championships and two USport University Cups. In his time with the New Brunswick Reds, he scored 92 points, 37 goals and 55 assists, in 134 games. After his short stint in Finland, he now moved to Asiago.
