Asiago staves off elimination | Match pucks for Zell, Gherdeina and Sisak

HC Asiago successfully fended off elimination and extended the series against HC Meran/o. Meanwhile, EK Zeller Eisbären secured three match pucks against Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. HC Gherdeina, who once again defeated the Red Bull Hockey Juniors, and KHL Sisak – against Cortina – followed suit and also earned three chances to advance to the semifinals.

Zell earns three match pucks
EK Zeller Eisbären celebrated a 3-1 road win in Game 4 of the quarterfinal series against Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan, taking a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series and earning three match pucks for a semifinal berth. The Master Round winner controlled the opening period but was initially unable to beat Dominik Groh in the Broncos’ net. In the middle frame, the visitors struck with a decisive double: Devin Steffler opened the scoring in the 25th minute, before Christian Jennes doubled the lead just one minute later. While the Broncos applied pressure in the final period, Zell added another goal through Bernhard Fechtig to make it 3-0. Sterzing managed to cut the deficit to 1-3, but could not threaten Zell’s victory. With this result, the Master Round dominator now leads the series 3-1 and has three chances to secure a semifinal spot.

Asiago keeps season alive
HC Asiago claimed its first win in the best-of-seven quarterfinal series against HC Meran/o, cutting the series deficit to 1-3 and keeping its season alive. After a scoreless opening period, the visitors struck first as Carter Johnson scored in the 35th minute. Meran responded shortly after, with Rasmus Nousiainen equalizing in the 38th minute. However, Asiago answered immediately, as Ryan Valentini restored the lead less than 20 seconds later.
In the final period, Asiago extended the lead to 3-1 with Johnson’s second goal of the night, but Meran once again pulled one back shortly after. Still, the hosts were unable to force overtime.
Asiago extends its season but will need three more wins to advance to the semifinals.

Gherdeina secures match pucks against Red Bull Hockey Juniors
HC Gherdeina valgardena.it secured a hard-fought 1-0 win on the road against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors in Game 4 of the Alps Hockey League quarterfinals, taking a 3-1 series lead.
The game-winning goal came early, as Vlastimil Dostalek scored in the 12th minute following a strong assist by Simon Pitschieler. From there on, the South Tyroleans impressed defensively and remained composed despite several pressure phases by Salzburg. Gherdeina played a compact, disciplined game and was efficient in transition, while goaltender Claes Endre delivered a solid performance to preserve the narrow lead. The penalty kill was flawless as well, shutting down all four power plays of the hosts. Offensively, Gherdeina created chances on the counter, including a crossbar hit by Pitschieler. In the closing stages, the visitors also held firm against six Salzburg skaters and secured the win.

Sisak stays in control against Cortina
KHL Sisak also won Game 4 of the quarterfinal series against S.G. Cortina Hafro, taking a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. The visitors started stronger but were unable to beat Antti Karjalainen in the opening period.
Although Cortina showed improvement in the second period, the goals came from Sisak: Tjas Lesnicar and Marijus Dumcius gave the visitors a 2-0 lead. Cortina pushed for a goal in the final frame, but Sisak netminder Vilim Rosandic recorded a shutout. Sisak ultimately secured a 3-0 win and now has three chances to advance to the semifinals.
