Head Coach Roger Bader's red-white-red team was also defeated in its fifth game at the 2023 World Championship. Once again - as in the first four World Cup encounters - the Austrians trailed early. Bernd Wolf, who shot from the high slot, scored the deserved equalizer in the 12th minute - but the Germans took advantage of defensive mistakes by the Austrians to score two more goals and were more active and agile for a long time, especially in the last period. With 6.5 minutes to go, Lukas Haudum scored the tie-breaking goal with a deflection - but nothing more was possible. Germany came one minute before the end, after mistake of Dominique Heinrich, by Empty-Netter to the victory goal, won 4-2. Red-white-red plays on Saturday, at 15.20 pm live on ORF 1, on reigning champion Finland.

Finland did not give Hungary a chance on Friday. The Magyars lost 1-7, came very lucky - the puck jumped over the Finnish goalkeeper Jussi Olkinuora in the goal - to the interim 1-2. In the final period, the defending champion then made serious, scored five goals and came safely to his third victory. Hungary's next opponent is Germany on Sunday.

Slovenia with its back to the wall
The Slovenian national team is also still without a point at the World Championship. The "Risi" lost 2-3 to Latvia on Friday, with Anze Kuralt of Hydro Fehérvár AV19 leveling the score at 1-1.
