In the third game it was the second victory for Austria, only against host Germany there was nothing to gain (0:3). Stefan Gaffal of the Steinbach Black Wings Linz put the ÖEHV selection in the lead in the 12th minute. Just over five minutes later, Denmark equalized in the power play. In the second period, however, Austria went ahead again thanks to Lukas Haudum of the EC-KAC (29.). Sweden legionnaire Marco Kasper provided the final decision in the 48th minute in the power play. It was already the third win in a row against the world number 10 Denmark. Germany secured the tournament victory. The hosts of the Deutschland Cup won all three games.

Italy secures tournament victory in Budapest
In a dramatic final at the "Sárközy Tamás Memorial Tournament" in Budapest, Italy defeated France 4:3 after shootout to secure the tournament title. With Daniel Frank (HCB) a player of the win2day ICE Hockey League entered the goal scorer's charts of the regular playing time. In the penalty shootout it was the sixth player who scored for the decision. For Italy, it was thus a small revenge for the 1:2/OT defeat at the World Championships in May, where they missed out on staying in the league.

The other two ICE nations, Hungary and Slovenia, were defeated in the placement matches. Host Hungary finished fourth after losing 1:2 to Ukraine in the third-place match. Earlier in the afternoon, Slovenia lost 1:3 to Japan in the fifth-placed match and finished the tournament in Hungary's capital in sixth and last place.
