After an impressive group stage with four wins from seven matches, Austria qualified for the knockout phase in fourth place. Switzerland awaited in the quarter-finals in Herning (DEN), having only suffered an overtime defeat against the Czech Republic in their group and securing group victory. Austria had no chance against the strong Swiss team right from the start: the ÖEHV team was 3-0 down after just 15 minutes. At the start of the second period, Switzerland increased the score to 5:0 with a double strike, before the final 6:0 was secured in the final period.

In addition to Austria, Slovenia and Hungary were also represented at the World Championships in the top division. Both nations finished seventh in their respective groups and thus secured their place in the top division. At the beginning of May, Italy secured promotion at the Division IA World Championships in Sfântu Gheorghe, Romania, with a strong performance. This means that all four nations of the win2day ICE Hockey League will be represented at the top division World Championships for the first time in 2026.
