Austria turns 0:2 deficit into victory
At the beginning of the game Austria had a hard time against a strong playing British team. In the first as well as in the second period the red-white-red team conceded one goal each. Thus, Austria was already trailing 0:2 after 40 minutes and was thus on the verge of relegation. Numerous brilliant saves by goalkeeper Bernhard Starkbaum prevented an even higher deficit. In the final period, the selection of the ÖEHV put everything on one card, could quickly reduce to 1:2, only to have to accept a setback again a short time later. But after the 1:3 Austria dominated the game, created numerous chances and won 5:3 in the end. The victory over Great Britain means that Austria will also be part of next year's A-World Cup and will thus continue to be one of the best 16 teams in the world.

Italy loses to Kazakhstan and is relegated

Italy, on the other hand, lost with 5:2 to Kazakhstan in the deciding match to stay in the league. With only one point, which they got against France, Italy is relegated. Although the Kazakhs took the lead in the twelfth minute of the game, Italy quickly equalized through Brandon McNally. In the end, Kazakhstan still went into the first period break with a 2:1 lead. After the second period they led with 3:2. In the final period Kazakhstan made everything clear with two goals within the first six minutes.
