AWHL: Sabres and Highlanders with clear Road Wins

In the win2day Austrian Women’s Hockey League, the Sabres St. Pölten and KSV Highlanders both celebrated convincing away victories. The Sabres cruised past the Graz99ers Huskies with a 7:1 win, while the Highlanders recorded a 9:3 blowout against the VSV Lady Hawks. There were also clear results in the European Women’s Hockey League: league leaders Aisulu Almaty earned a dominant 9:2 victory over Tauron Metropolia Silesia, while the DEC Salzburg Eagles fell 1:5 on the road against MAC Budapest.

The Sabres St. Pölten had no difficulties against the Graz99ers Huskies, claiming a convincing 7:1 win. The visitors led 3:0 after the opening period and extended their advantage to 4:0 in the second. Four minutes before the end, the home team managed a consolation goal, but the Sabres answered with two more. Jaime Magoffin stood out as the player of the game with two goals and three assists.

Highlanders roll past VSV Lady Hawks
The KSV Highlanders defeated the VSV Lady Hawks 9:3. Although the Carinthians opened the scoring, the Highlanders quickly turned the game around and were up 5:1 by the 28th minute. In the end, it was a comfortable win for the team from Styria, led by Marielle Dijkema with two goals and three assists and Lena Dauböck with two goals and two assists.

EWHL: Aisulu and MAC with clear wins
In the European Women’s Hockey League, Aisulu Almaty celebrated a commanding 9:2 win against tenth-placed Tauron Metropolia Silesia. Already on Saturday, the Kazakh side had won the same matchup 6:4. After a narrow 2:1 lead in the first period, Aisulu exploded in the middle frame to go up 7:2. Two more goals in the final period sealed the victory for the still unbeaten leaders. Breanne Trotter and Katherina Birkby both scored twice.

In the second game of the day, MAC Budapest earned a 5:1 win over the DEC Salzburg Eagles. It was the first loss in three games for Salzburg, while Budapest picked up their first victory of the season in their second outing. After a scoreless first 30 minutes, MAC pulled away to 4:0 by the 56th minute before the visitors got on the board. The final word belonged to the hosts, as Emily Baxter— the only double goalscorer of the game—made it 5:1.
