AWHL victories for Lakers and Sabres | Highlanders win in the EWHL

In the win2day Austrian Women's Hockey League, the Sabres St. Pölten and the Lakers Carinthia celebrated on Sunday. While the Lower Austrians clearly prevailed in Graz, the Lakers only secured their victory over Salzburg in the third period.

There was also an Austrian victory in the European Women's Hockey League on Sunday. The KSV Highlanders defeated Tauron Metropolia Silesia 5:2.

The Sabres claimed a clear 7:2 away win in Graz in the win2day Austrian Women's Hockey League. Lena Artner opened the scoring with her first of two goals after just 70 seconds. Although the Huskies managed to equalise in the meantime, the Lower Austrians went into the first break with a 3:1 lead. The visitors made things clear in the middle period, pulling 1:6 ahead by the 40th minute. Rylee Davison also got on the scoresheet in the 48th minute, with five of the Sabres' seven goals coming on the power play. With their sixth AWHL win, the Sabres are now only three points behind league leaders KSV Highlanders.

The Lakers Kärnten celebrated their third win in their eighth AWHL game. The hosts beat the DEC Salzburg Eagles 3:1 in a balanced game. After a goalless first period, the Carinthians took the lead in the middle period, but the equalizer followed shortly before the second intermission. Kelsey Soccio scored after the restart to give the Lakers the lead again, and it was to be the game-winner. Kimberly Collard added an empty netter to round off the scoring.

There was also an Austrian success in the European Women's Hockey League on Sunday, as the KSV Highlanders defeated Tauron Metropolia Silesia 5:2. The Styrians had a 2:1 lead after the first period. The visitors then took made the preliminary decision in the 40th minute when Nikola Rumanova and Vanessa Picka scored a brace within 16 seconds.
