After a disappointing start to the season - four defeats in a row - the Steinbach Black Wings Linz not only got the frustration off their chest on Tuesday evening against Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, but also recorded their first win of the season. The Upper Austrians scored five goals in the middle third alone to win 8:2, while the EC-KAC celebrated a 2:1 victory over the spusu Vienna Capitals.

The spell for the Steinbach Black Wings Linz seemed to be broken from the middle third onwards against Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey. The Upper Austrians were able to open the scoring in the first period and thus double their goal tally for the season. However, after Asiago managed to equalize in the same period, Linz's knot finally burst in the 28th minute - and how: The Linzers scored three times within 51 seconds and finally played freely from then on. By the end of the second period, the home side had increased their lead to 6:2. In a great atmosphere, the Black Wings finally took their first three points of the season with an 8:2 win - eight times the number of goals they had scored in their previous four games. Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, on the other hand, still have to wait for their first win.

The EC-KAC, meanwhile, celebrated its fourth win of the season in its sixth game against the spusu Vienna Capitals. Klagenfurt got off to the better start and were 2-0 up by the 32nd minute, but then the Caps got into the game. Nikolaus Hartl scored the spectacular equalizer after the Caps were outnumbered: The 32-year-old Austrian simply shot from the halfway line and beat MVP goalie Sebastian Dahm to make it 2:2. However, the KAC did not let this unsettle them - Nick Petersen scored the decisive goal just one minute later.
