The Steinbach Black Wings Linz line-up was filled for the test against České Budějovice: Tirronen returned in goal, with all but Andreas Kristler, Brodi Stuart and Nico Feldner being on the ice. In the opening period, the Upper Austrians were unable to capitalise on power play situations, the game was goalless after the first. In the 23rd minute, the Czechs took the lead in their powerplay and took the narrow advantage into the third period. The home side then set the tone for long stretches. But shortly after Collins missed a great chance to equalise, Budweis added a second goal. In the final minute, the visitors even made it 3:0 with an empty netter. This was the second time in a row that Linz had failed to score. The two teams will face each other again in the Czech Republic on Friday.
