Black Wings were on Fire
Perfect start for EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz into their home-game against KHL Medvescak Zagreb: After 15 minutes the Upper Austrians were leading already 4:0. Corey Locke opened the scoring alone infront of the net (5.). Brian Lebler extended the lead with a similar goal 62 seconds later – 2:0. The Black Wings were on Fire, but also Medvescak became dangerous, but the Croatians could not take advantage from their chances. The Upper Austrians on the other side continued to play effective, Dan DaSilva made the 3:0 in minute 9 and then Joel Broda scored the next goal from a very sharp angel (15.). Now the guests changed their goalie and Rosandic replaced Poulin. The Croatians now concentrated more on their defense and Linz got less chances. In minute 17 the Bears came close to score their first goal, but they just hit the post. In period 2 Linz quickly extended their lead thanks a Power Play goal from Broda. The same player then also added the 6:0. The Croatians did not found a solution to stop the home-team from scoring again: Laurens Ober (38.) and Brian Lebler in another Power Play in period 3 made it even 8:0. Now the Austrians took their feets from the gas and this allowed KHL Medvescak Zagreb a Power Play goal from Aviani late in the game.
Capitals returned at Innsbruck on the winning-street
HC TWK Innsbruck „Die Haie“ had several good chances in period 1, but Vienna‘s goalie Jean Philippe Lamoureux was not to beat. The Caps also threatened sometimes. Once the guests even cheered a goal, but the referees said: „no goal“ after watching the scene on the video (18.). After Nödl and Holzapfel failed to score from break-ways for Vienna and Clark and Yogan missed good chances on the other side for HCI, it was finally Cap Niki Hartl, who scored volley the first goal of the game. The Tyroleans had a quick answer and equalized just seven seconds later thanks a goal from Hunter Bishop. Just moments later Andrew Clark had the chance to turn the game around, but he failed to score. Better did the Champion: Vause in a Power Play and Nödl moments before the second break made it 3:1 for the Leader. In the third period the Caps dominated and controlled the game first. The best chance for Innsbruck came in minute 49, but Clark failed to score from a solo. In the final minutes followed an open game, with chances on both sides. In minute 56 the decision: Rafel Rotter scored the 4:1 for Vienna at Innsbruck in a Power Play.
Already before the game Vienna announced the signing of Austrian Power Forward Peter Schneider, who payed the last seven years overseas.
Bulldogs celebrated last-minute-win at Graz
The Moser Medical Graz99ers had the upper hand of the game in the beginning, but the first goal was scored by the Dornbirn Bulldogs: Matt Fraser finished the first good chance for his team after a diagonal-pass from the slot. Both teams took care of the defense. Also after the re-start both teams tried their luck with „dump and chase“. Late in the second period the 99ers could equalize: Daniel Oberkofler was alone in front of the net and had no problems to score the 1:1. The Styrians took the momentum into the last 20 minutes. After hitting the post before, Evan Brophey scored the lead for the hosts (45.). Dornbirn did not have many chances, but one was used by Matt Fraser to make it 2:2 again. And the Bulldogs even took three points from the Mur City: Jerome Gauthoer Leduc shot the puck from the blue line in front of the net and from their Henrik Neubauer deflected the puck into the net.
