Black Wings with important win against the Vienna Capitals

With the iClinic Bratislava Capitals and the Steinbach Black Wings 1992, two teams from the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League managed to surprise on Tuesday. The Slovaks won with 2:1 against the EC-KAC. The Upper Austrians achieved their first victory after five defeats in a row in the 3:1 home victory against the spusu Vienna Capitals. In the third game of the day the HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie celebrated a clear 6:2 away win in the West Derby at the Dornbirn Bulldogs.

Bratislava wins first league duel against the KAC
In the first league duel between the iClinic Bratislava Capitals and the EC-KAC, the ICE newcomer from Slovakia celebrated a surprising 2:1 home victory. After only 68 seconds, Filip Ahl gave the Slovakian capital a 1:0 lead after a dream combination. The EC-KAC, who arrived without Head Coach Petri Matikainen and Assistant Coach Juha Vuori, as both are currently in quarantine, managed to equalize the score just four minutes later. A long-range shot from Steven Strong found its way into the goal. It was only the second game for the 27-year-old Austro-Canadian after a two-month injury break.

In the second period, the guests from Klagenfurt set the tone, but without taking the lead. In the final period the KAC got the chance to take the lead in the powerplay about eight minutes before the end, but it was not the guests who scored the goal, but Bratislava in numerical disadvantage. Filip Ahl and Jakub Suja took advantage of a two-on-one. It was the second goal of the season for 32-year-old Suja. In the last minutes the KAC tried everything again, but they could not equalize. For Bratislava it was the first victory after three defeats in a row. The KAC is still third in the league table with 22 points.



Black Wings wins agaisnt Vienna Capitals

The Steinbach Black Wings 1992 achieved their first victory after five defeats in a row. Supported by fan chants that sounded over the loudspeakers, the Upper Austrians showed a much better performance against the spusu Vienna Capitals than before. It was the second defeat in a row for the federal capitals. The game was turbulent from the beginning and started with some penalties. However, the first goal was scored in five on five. After a bad change from Linz, 21-year-old Fabio Artner scored for the Vienna Capitals for the first time. The guests from Vienna then missed the opportunity to score in the first period.

In the second period, Linz came into the game much better and scored twice within three and a half minutes. First, captain Brian Lebler managed to equalize. For the 32-year-old it was the ninth goal of the season. The Austrian national player is thus the sole leader of the Goal Scoring Ranking. The top scorer of the league, Dragan Umicevic, scored the 2:1 in the powerplay. The decision in favor of Linz was made just eight minutes before the end of the game when Alexander Lahoda scored the 3:1 winning goal. With this victory, Linz is now tenth in the league, the Capitals remain fourth in the table.



Ciampini and Sideroff shine at clear victory of Innsbruck

The HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie also won the second West Derby of the season against the Dornbirn Bulldogs. Daniel Ciampini scored three times in the 6:2 away win. The HCI was the better team from the beginning and took the lead early on, after a strong individual action by Deven Sideroff. For the 23-year-old Canadian, it was the first of two goals that evening. After thirteen minutes of play, the guests were already leading 3:1. In the middle period, both teams scored once each in the special team. While Innsbruck scored a powerplay goal, Dornbirn scored in numerical disadvantage.

Right at the beginning of the final period Daniel Ciampini scored hid third goal. The final point was set by Jonathan Racine-Clarke one minute and 15 seconds before the end of the game via empty net. Dornbirn conceded the second defeat in a row, but remains in sixth place with 17 points. Innsbruck follows in seventh place with one point less.
