Innsbruck thus also lost their seventh and final preseason game, but head coach Jordan Smotherman's team showed great improvement compared to the clear defeat in Bolzano. After a cautious first period, Innsbruck got into the game better in the middle period. There were chances on both sides, but goalies Evan Buitenhuis (HCI) and Gianluca Vallini (HCB) were always on hand. That didn't change in the third period either, and after 60 goalless minutes the game went into over time. Ryan Valentini just hit the post after a spectacular solo effort, and Bolzano decided the game on the next attack. Two former HCI players were responsible for the goal, with Simon Bourque scoring after a pass from Braden Christoffer.
