Bolzano wins top clash in Vienna
Only one day after the win in Bratislava, HCB Südtirol Alperia continued with the away game at the third-placed spusu Vienna Capitals, who had to do without the two defenders Phil Lakos and Alex Wall and the forwards Patrick Kittinger and top scorer Colin Campbell due to illness. The game was very physical right from the start, with emotions running high on the ice several times - with 79 penalty minutes, it was also to be the game with the most penalty minutes so far this season. In the 18th minute, the game was even over prematurely for Bolzano's Luca Frigo with a 5+ penalty. However, neither team was able to capitalise on their powerplay opportunities and it even remained scoreless for two periods. In the final period, Brett Findlay gave the visitors the lead with shot from distance. With two more goals (one empty netter), defender Nick Plastino made the game safe. Bolzano's new goalie Andreas Bernard recorded a shutout on his debut and the Foxes extended their lead in the standings.

From Vienna's point of view, there was still reason for joy on Sunday: The auction of the original game-worn Christmas jerseys raised a record amount of EUR 13,770.54. This year's proud donation will once again go to MOMO - Vienna's mobile children's hospice and children's palliative team.

Innsbruck prolongs winning streak

HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie continued their winning run on Sunday at EC-KAC. The Carinthians were missing eight players, but Paul Postma and Matt Fraser made their debuts for the Klagenfurt side. The only goal in the first period came from Clemens Paulweber, who converted a rebound in the 19th minute for his second goal of the season. In the middle period, however, the home side increasingly took command and deservedly equalised. Rok Ticar scored in the 33rd minute after a great assist from Nick Petersen to make it 1-1. When the KAC seemed to have the game under control, the hosts went on another power play early in the third period. But instead of taking the lead for the first time, goalie Dahm made a momentous mistake and Daniel Ciampini scored a shorthander to make it 1:2. It should have been the crucial point of the game, as Gerlach and Winkler (EN) rounded off the Tyroleans' first win of the season over the KAC. With the fourth win in a row, the Sharks climbed to sixth place in the table.

Villach gives away lead again

Just 24 hours after the shootout defeat against Bolzano, the iClinic Bratislava Capitals faced EC GRAND Immo VSV at home. The Slovaks took the lead in the ninth minute with a powerplay goal from Higgs, but Kornelli equalised for the visitors before the first intermission. In the middle period, Villach took advantage of their third power play to take the lead through a shot by Jordan Caron. Only a few seconds were missing for VSV to take this lead into the final period. With 4-on-4 on the ice, Milos Bubela scored on a rebound to make it 2:2. In the last period, the Slovaks went ahead again, Hudec made it 3:2. Although VSV coach Rob Daum pulled his goalie for another skater 100 seconds before the end, the Carinthians - despite good opportunities - did not manage to equalise again. Thus, the Capitals also won the third duel of the season. As in the last three defeats, the Carinthians once again gave away an interim lead.
