Nine days after the clear 9:1 victory of the KAC, both teams initially focused on defence, good offensive actions were rare. In the 17th minute, the home side was able to celebrate for the first time: Joel Broda won the puck and went five-hole on Sebastian Dahm to give the Eagles their first lead in the third derby of the season. The Villach team, which seemed to be trying very hard this evening, even increased their lead in the 28th minute. Another KAC loss of the puck at the offensive blue line led to a counterattack and John Hughes finished. Only a short time later, the guests also scored, in their first power play Lukas Haudum (31st) reduced to 2:1. But Maximilian Rebernig restored the two-goal lead of the hosts still in the middle period. However, the KAC struck back in the third period. Daniel Obersteiner scored first and Martin Schumnig evened the score three and a half minutes before the end. Derek Joslin had the chance for decision in regulation time, but failed as he only hit the bar. Overtime was the deciding factor and Villach had the better end. Twelve seconds before the end Renars Krastenbergs scored. After five previous defeats, VSV won the prestigious duel once again.

South Tyrolean teams successful
After only 61 seconds, Bolzano took the lead in their road game in Innsbruck. The goal by captain Anton Bernard was preceded by a mistake in the home side's defence. Although Nico Feldner turned away jubilant in the sixth minute after the equaliser, only eleven seconds later Joe Mizzi took advantage of another mistake in the HCI defence to make it 1:2. In a very fair game - the first penalty was called in the 39th minute - Bolzano increased their lead in the middle period: Nick Plastino (28th) scored from the blue line. At the latest with a Findlay goal in the third period, the resistance of the home side was broken. Bolzano won for the fourth time in a row in Innsbruck and moved up to second place.

HC Pustertal got off to a lightning start at home against the Dornbirn Bulldogs, with Shane Hanna scoring in the third minute after a perfect Harju pass. When Reece Willcox (9th) surprised DEC-goalie David Madlener, it was 2:0. After a beautiful individual action Ivan Deluca increased in the 18th minute with already the third goal. However, the Vorarlbergers got their hopes up with an O'Donnell goal shortly before the break. In the middle period, Davis Vandane brought the guests even closer to 3:2, but with a shorthander by Deluca (39th) the momentum changed sides again. In the final period, Max Gerlach scored to make the final score 5:2. The Wolves won three of four duels with Dornbirn and moved up to ninth place.
