Bolzano and Zagreb announce new arrivals, Pollastrone extends in Vienna

After playing in Extraliga, KHL, Sweden and for the Czech national team, 35-year-old Tomas Netik joins Medvescak Zagreb. While 28-year-old Canadian Domenic Monardo is the first new arrival for HC Bolzano, Jerry Pollastrone extends his contracts with UPC Vienna Capitals.

Tomas Netik is a new Medvescak player. Prague-born 35-year-old Czech spent most of his career in his youth club – Sparta Praha. Zagreb fans know him from his time in the KHL when he visited the Den as part of the Slovan Bratislava team. Netik is a winger with an impressive 422 games played in the Czech Extraliga while tallying 116 goals and 115 assists. To add to that, he has played in 80 playoff games in the Extraliga tallying 29 points and along the way twice winning back-to-back titles of the Czech champion – in 2006 and 2007 with Sparta. In the Extraliga, Netik also played for Karlovy Vary, Bili Tygri Liberec and last season on loan for Ocelari Trinec (a total of nine games).
 
“Tomas is a very effective offensive player who should be an immediate impact player for us at this level.  He has a wealth of experience in the KHL and in the Czech Extraliga and is looking forward to this chapter of his career and is only coming here to help us win hockey games.  I have to believe he will be an immediate fan favourite with his style and passion he plays with.  We expect him to be a difference maker for sure,” Medvescak’s Sports Director Aaron Fox said about the Den's newest aquisition.
 
First new arrival in Bolzano
Domenic Monardo is the first new face for the upcoming Erste Bank Eishockey Liga season in Bolzano. Last season the 28-year-old reached the East Coast Hockey League finals with South Carolina Stingrays - 51 points (18G, 33A) in 65 games. In addition he played eleven American Hockey League games for Hershey Bears. Now the physical forward comes to Europe for the first time.
 
Jerry Pollastrone extended his contract with UPC Vienna Capitals. The 31-year-old American is the 19th player of the championship-winning team who stays with the club. Last campaign the forward played all 66 league games (21G, 27A).
