Bolzano and Zagreb make new signings

HC Bolzano strengthens their defense with Swede Robin Gartner. The 28-year-old played for Karlskrona HK lately and goes abroad for the first time. In Medvescak's Den there are two new players: Norway international Sondre Olden and Canadian Michael Boivin, former player of EC Red Bull Salzburg, Fehervar AV19 and Moser Medical Graz 99ers.

Olden is a 24-year-old wing player who comes to Medvescak from Swedish SHL where he played his last season for Leksands. Olden played for three years in the SHL and besides Leksands, Norway international played for Brynas and MODO Hockey and picked up 106 appearences. He also played in his home country for Valerenga where he racked up 41 goal and 60 assists in 94 games played. Olden played for his home country in two World Championships in 2014 and 2017. Besides playing in two World Championships, Olden also got the honour to be part of the Norway national team in the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014. In the same year he got the Norway player of the year award. „Sondre is a big strong two way forward who has played as an import in the top Swedish League the last two seasons. He was a top scorer in Norway before he went to Sweden and we think that he will have a chance to return his scoring touch in the EBEL. We are looking forward to adding another player who was playing in top European leagues“, says Medvescak Sports Director Aaron Fox about his new arrival, who was selected in the NHL Draft in 2010 by Toronto Maple Leafs as a 79th pick in the third round.
 
After his college career, Boivin went to Erste Bank Eishockey Liga where he played his first season for Red Bull Salzburg and won the championship scoring and assisting 21 times throughout the season. His next stop was Hungarian team Fehervar AV19 where Boivin played in the 2014/15 season before his comeback to the North America and the ECHL. In two seasons Boivin had 94 appearences for Manchester Monarchs, Rapid City Rush and Reading Royals. At the end of last season the 26-year-old Canadian defensman played 10 games for Graz 99ers. „Mike is an offensive defenseman who brings some EBEL experience to our locker room. He should come in and contribute right away and give us a very reliable option to play big minutes“ added Aaron Fox.
 
Bolzano finds new defender in Sweden
HC Bolzano signed 28-year-old Swede Robin Gartner, who learnt his trade at HV71 where he also played his first SHL game at the age of 17. After some Allsvenskan years, Gartner returned to the Swedish top flight with Örebrö. The defender spent the last two seasons with Karlskrona HK, before going abroad for the first time now. "I always wanted to play outside from Sweden to get to know a new culture. I expect fast-paced hockey with top-level players in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga".
