Caps continue winning streak

The spusu Vienna Capitals continued their winning streak and recorded their fifth win in a row as guests of the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg. However, the ICE newcomers got the better start at first, taking the lead in the seventh minute through Tyler Sandhu. But the Caps' powerplay is working by now in the still young season: Rafael Rotter provided the equalizer in powerplay still in the first period. The Viennese added to their tally in the second period in the person of Matt Bradley (SH1), who extended his scoring streak to seven games. The Caps did not let the lead slip away in this game and eventually prevailed 4-2. With this success, the Viennese already climbed to fifth place in the table. The Pioneers, on the other hand, suffered their third defeat in a row and are in twelfth place.

Decimated Graz99ers take revenge against Asiago

The Moser Medical Graz99ers were able to end their negative streak in Daniel Oberkofler's anniversary game (900 games) after three losses in a row recently. Visiting Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, the Styrians managed to take revenge for the bitter defeat at the start of the season. The Styrians, who had to do without numerous imports, acted much more efficiently than the hosts in the first two thirds. The red-white-red trio of Clemens Krainz, Jacob Pfeffer and Alis Alagic made it 3-0 by the 31st minute, the latter scoring while shorthanded. Asiago, which had recently distinguished itself with its high efficiency, started another chase through their top scorers Giodrano Finoro and Anthony Salinitr and reduced the score to 2:3 by the 47th minute. The 99ers' defense, however, did not allow any more goals, celebrated its fourth win of the season and reduced the gap to the top-6 teams.

Salzburg wins top match against VSV

After four wins in a row, EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV suffered another defeat. Against the reigning champions, the Eagles lost narrowly with 1:3. The Red Bulls brought themselves back into lurking position on the top duo with their seventh full success in the ninth game of the season. The Red Bulls made a lightning start in a nearly sold-out Villach Arena. After only 15 seconds Benjamin Nissner netted for 1:0. After the Eagles let a long 5-on-3 powerplay go unused in the second period, Felix Maxa equalized in the 37th minute. Villach's joy lasted only a short time, however: just 21 seconds later, Chay Genoway regained the lead for the reigning champions. VSV was no longer able to crack the defense of Salzburg, who finally won 3:1 through an empty netter.

Pustertal answers with highest win of the season

HC Pustertal showed a clear reaction two days after their highest defeat in the win2day ICE Hockey League and promptly recorded their highest win since league membership. The 7:0 success over HK SZ Olimpija also allowed the red lantern to be relinquished. Filip Ahl brought the South Tyroleans back on the road to success with a quick double strike in the second game with Phil Horsky as head coach. Olivier Archambault increased the lead to 3:0 in the first period, and while Ljubljana was struggling with Pustertal's goalkeeper Tomas Sholl, the Wolves' offense kept up the pace. In the second and in the third period two more goals followed. For Sholl this was the first shutout win in the current season. With this defeat, the Slovenians promptly had to give up their place among the top-6.

Bolzano regains lead in the standings
After two defeats in a row HCB Südtirol Alperia was able to win again at home against EC-KAC and to take back the lead from Linz. The Klagenfurt team now had to accept the second defeat this weekend after their unsuccessful premiere in the Heidi-Horten Arena. The Foxes started the match more aggressively and took the lead in the sixth minute through Mitch Hults. Jesper Jensen Aabo equalized with his second goal of the season, but Bolzano regained command and the lead in the first period. After a strong middle third, the South Tyroleans already led 4:1, before KAC started a race to catch up and reduced the score to 3:4. However, the Klagenfurt team did not manage to score an goal for voertime. While Bolzano is back on top, the KAC currently has to settle for ninth place.
