HCB Südtirol Alperia celebrated an emphatic 9–1 victory in the 200th South Tyrolean Derby on Friday night against HC Falkensteiner Pustertal. Olimpija Ljubljana regained the league lead after winning on the road in Salzburg. Meanwhile, KAC and Linz both won their home games convincingly, and Graz came out on top in overtime in Budapest.
A sellout crowd of 6,738 fans in the Sparkasse Arena witnessed a memorable South Tyrolean Derby. Brad McClure, honored before the game for his 200th appearance in a Bolzano jersey, opened the scoring just four minutes in. The visitors from Brunico tied it late in the first period through Purdeller, and for a moment, it looked like a close contest. But in the middle frame, the home team took complete control, scoring six times in just eleven minutes to enter the final period with a comfortable 7–1 lead. McClure added a shorthanded goal, and Schneider struck on the power play to seal the 9–1 final. Bolzano took impressive revenge for their earlier derby defeat and solidified third place in the standings, while Pustertal surrendered the top spot.
Olimpija Ljubljana celebrated their first away win in Salzburg in more than three and a half years. It marked their sixth consecutive victory, putting Ben Cooper’s team back atop the win2day ICE Hockey League table. Captain Gregorc opened the scoring in the 10th minute, after which Salzburg controlled most of the play but repeatedly failed to beat standout goaltender Horak. The Red Bulls dominated again in the second period but hit only the goal frame. In the third, Thomas Raffl tied it shorthanded in the 51st minute, but just three minutes later, Zach Boychuk fired a precise shot into the far corner to restore Ljubljana’s lead. Salzburg’s late push came to nothing — it was the defending champion’s third loss in a row.
EC-KAC cemented fourth place with a convincing 5–1 home win against HC Innsbruck, taking all three periods. After heavy early pressure, Preiml made it 1–0 for the Red Jackets in the 16th minute. Owre equalized on the power play (24'), but Schwinger quickly restored the lead. After a missed breakaway by Lajeunesse, the hosts extended their advantage before the second intermission: Van Ee netted the 3–1 (38'), and From struck at the buzzer for 4–1. Innsbruck couldn’t capitalize on their chances in the final period, and Unterweger scored on a late power play to close out the 5–1 victory.
The Moser Medical Graz99ers earned an overtime win in Budapest, successfully avenging their loss from the first meeting of the season. After falling behind 0–1 on a Coulter goal (19'), Collins tied it early in the second period. Despite further chances, it remained 1–1 after 40 minutes. In the third, Haudum put Graz ahead 2–1 before Toth and Shaw turned the game around for the hosts. Haudum equalized again with just ten seconds left in regulation, sending the game to overtime, where Hora decided it in the 63rd minute, giving the 99ers a 4–3 win.
The Steinbach Black Wings Linz continued their strong form with a 4–1 home victory over the Vienna Capitals. The visitors struck first through Jérémy Grégoire, but Knott quickly leveled. Linz then took full control in the middle frame, scoring three times in three minutes to seal the game early: Knott gave his team the lead, followed by goals from Pusnik and Roe to make it 4–1. That score held until the final buzzer. The 10th-place Linzers closed the gap to the Capitals to just two points.
