In Glen Hanlon’s first home game after the return to HCB Südtirol Alperia, Gianluca Vallini got his first start of the season. The spusu Vienna Capitals, which lost 0-1 to Asiago the night before, had to deal without eight regular players – Patrick Antal and Dominique Heinrich were missing too.

Bolzano got off a great start with a couple of good scoring chances in the first, all stopped by Vienna’s netminder Sebastian Wraneschitz, who had an outstanding performance in the opening frame. The 21-year-old continued with big saves in the second until the home team took the lead while shorthanded around halfway through the game, as Daniel Mantenuto (33./SH1) managed to score after a turnover of Vienna on the blue line. The „foxes“ picked it up and Angelo Miceli doubled with one minute left. In the final frame Bolzano kept going and increased the lead thanks to Lucas Lessio (44.), after a great passing-play by Teves and Christian Thomas (54.), who scored on a deflection. Lukas Piff netted Vienna’s consolidation goal to destroy Vallini’s shutout.
