Bolzano closes gap to top-5 with first road win this year

Also on the second game day predominantly the home teams succeeded. The HCB Südtirol Alperia ist the first and so far only team with a road win this year. With that win the Foxes closed the gap to the top-5. Die Liwest Black Wings Linz stopped the run of the spusu Vienna Capitals and took revenge on the harsh defeat past week. The EC Red Bull Salzburg increased the lead in the standings after winning against Dornbirn. Fehérvár AV 19 booked their first win this year with a shutout against Znojmo. The EC Panaceo VSV is still undefeated against the Moser Medical Graz99ers this season.

Fehérvár AV 19 celebrates shutout win against Znojmo
Hydro Fehérvár AV 19 booked the first win this year in their second game. The Hungarians celebrated a 4:0 shutout win against the HC Orli Znojmo. The hosts put a lot of pressure onto Znojmo right from the beginning and created chance after chance. Dominik Groh, who was the starting goalie for Znojmo this night proved his reactions. Znojmo had the biggest chance with a penalty shot. The first period ended with no goals. Fehérvár started the second period with a double strike of Anze Kuralt and Aaron Reisz. The guests didn’t give the control and the lead away anymore and booked a 4:0 success. With that win the Hungarians reduced the gap to the top-5 to six points. The advantage of Znojmo to the six placed team narrowed down to two points.

VSV is still undefeated against the 99ers
The EC Panaceo VSV is still undefeated this season against the Moser Medical Graz99ers. The 99ers couldn’t capture a single point for the first time in the past eight games. The VSV reduced the gap to the top-5 to five points and surpassed the 99ers in the standings. Patrick Bjorstrand opened the scoring for the hosts after 17 minutes. Winged by this goal the VSV started with a double strike into the second period. Sebastian Collberg couldn’t play anymore because of an injury. After 20 more minutes without a goal Alexander Reichenberg scored the first one for the 99ers this night. Martin Ulmer found the decision with a double strike the final decision. Newsigning Mark Cundari booked the assist for the 5:1.

Bolzano closes gap to top-5
The HCB Süditrol Alperia celebrated a win during the debut of Greg Ireland and closed the gap to the top-5. For Innsbruck it was the fourth consecutive defeat. Tyler Spurgeon captured the lead for Innsbruck in powerplay in the 17th minute. Despite a clear plus in chances the Foxes couldn’t overcome Scott Darling in the second period. Anthony Baradro started the trend reversal in the 50th minute. Winged by the first goal Daniel Frank captured the lead only moments later. The 25 year old forward also booked the final decision with the 3:1 in the 60th minute.

Black Wings stop Caps-streak
The Liwest Black Wings Linz took revenge to the spusu Vienna Capitals and stopped the winning streak of Vienna. Last week the Black Wings had to take a 0:8 defeat against the Capitals. The recovered Rick Schofield opened the scoring in the 13th minute in powerplay. Samuel Fejes doubled the lead moments later, just before the Caps scored their first goal in powerplay. In the second period Fejes recreated the two goal lead. Vienna couldn’t convert their chances in that period. Also in the final period the Caps blunt its teeth on David Kickert. Mario Fischer managed to overcome the Black Wings Linz goalie in the 58th minute, but it was too late to force the overtime.

Salzburg defends lead in standings
The advantage of the EC Red Bull Salzburg melt down to one point before that round. With a clear win against the Dornbirn Bulldogs the Red Bulls managed to increase the lead in the standings again. The Bulldogs collected some confidence in the past round, but had to end their first winning streak this season against the leader of the league. In the first period the Bulldogs managed to keep the pace of Salzburg. In the second period things happend in rapid succession. First Mario Huber caputred the lead, then Tomi Körkkö tied immediately. Salzburger had the better end in this period and acored two more goals for the 3:1. The Bulldogs couldn’t keep the pace of the hosts anymore and had to take 1:7 defeat at the end. The advantage of Salzburg in the standings to the second placed Caps is four points against.
