Bolzano defeats leader in top clash

Second-placed HCB Südtirol Alperia won the duel with win2day ICE Hockey League leaders HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie 5-1 and is now only two points behind the leader. EC Red Bull Salzburg, and Steinbach Black Wings Linz, which moved up to fourth place, also further reduced their gap to the top. The spusu Vienna Capitals reduced their gap to the top six with a clear 4-1 home win over EC-KAC. League newcomers BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg celebrated their highest win of the season so far with a 4-0 victory in Ljubljana and remained without conceding a goal for the first time. A shutout was also recorded by Tomas Sholl, who helped HC Pustertal Wölfe to a home win over Graz, which failed to score in Bruneck for the third time in a row.

Linz moves to fourth spot after 20th season win
Steinbach Black Wings Linz defeated Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 5-3 to get their 20th win in the current championship. The Upper Austrians overtook EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV, which was not playing on Friday, and are now in fourth place. Against the ICE newcomer BWL gave away a two-goal lead in the meantime, but in the end Brodi Stuart (55.) and an empty-netter by Graham Knott (60.) ensured the return to the winning ways after the last defeats against Salzburg and Innsbruck. Asiago suffered its fifth defeat in a row, conceding five or more goals for the third time in a row.


EC Red Bull Salzburg remains third in standings, as the reigning champions won 3-1 at last year's runner-up Hydro Fehérvar AV19 to record their fifth win in a row. On the road, the champion, for whom Peter Schneider (57.) scored the game-winner shorthanded, has always scored in its last seven games. Benjamin Nissner put the finishing touches on the game with an empty-netter, also scoring in his fourth consecutive game. Goalie Atte Tolvanen underlined his performance high with 31 saves (96.9%). The Hungarians conceded their third defeat in a row.

Vienna closes gap to top-6
The spusu Vienna Capitals took seventh place from Fehérvár with their 4-1 home win over EC-KAC, further reducing their gap to the top-6. They are four points behind sixth-placed Klagenfurt, which have played three games more. For the second time this season, the "Caps" were sold out with 7,022 spectators. With three goals in the final period, the superiority of the home team (39:19 shot ratio) could be seen on the scoreboard and Alex Wall (44.), Max Zimmer (51./PP1) and Matt Bradley (55./EN) decided the game, in which the "Rotjacken" left six powerplays unused. Pioneers cheer biggest season win
The BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg reached several milestones on Friday with a 4-0 road win at HK SZ Olimpija, as the victory was the highest win of the season for the league newcomers, which started without their two injured top scorers (Tyler Sandhu and Hampus Eriksson). For the first time, the Pioneers, as Guus van Nes put them on the winning track with a brace within 19 seconds, did not concede a goal, with Alex Caffi recording his first ICE shutout with 33 saves. And for the first time, the Vorarlberg team also won two games in a row.


HC Pustertal Wölfe also remained without a goal against and celebrated their fifth shutout with a 3-0 home win over Moser Medical Graz99ers. Dante Hannoun (6.) put the "Wolves" in the lead by deflection, before two powerplay goals by Filip Ahl (36.) and Raphael Andergassen (54.) secured the victory. Graz remained without a goal in Bruneck for the third consecutive game.
