The sixth semifinal game started with a lively up and down, but the big chances were a long time coming. The visitors from South Tyrol were unlucky when Nick Plastino only hit the post. In the 14th minute, the Capitals took the lead: after winning a face-off, Ty Loney surprised HCB goalkeeper Leland Irving at the short corner.

Daniel Frank had a chance to equalise, but Vienna goalie Bernhard Starkbaum was on hand. In the middle period, Bolzano had the best chance - but Frank missed alone against Starkbaum in a shorthanded situation. Shortly afterwards, the Viennese went up 2:0 on the power play: after a pass from Colin Campbell, who played his first game after more than three months of injury, Taylor Vause netted. Just under a minute before the second intermission, HCB forward Brett Findlay shortened the score with a beautiful individual action.

In the third period, both teams had chances to score again. While Ty Loney failed to score on Irving, the visitors could not capitalise on a 5-on-3 power play. When the South Tyroleans took their goalie off the ice in the final minute, Anthony Bardaro managed to equalise nine seconds before the end of regulation time. In overtime, the Viennese missed the decision in a power play. In the 74th minute Angelo Miceli, who also scored the decisive goal in overtime against Vienna in the 2018 semifinal, deflected the puck seccessfully for a Bolzano win - the goal was confirmed by video review. Bolzano thus reached the final for the third time in the history of the league. There it will come to a duel with EC-KAC. This means that the two best teams of the regular season will also face each other in the final. The first game of the "best-of-7" series will take place on Sunday in Bolzano.
