HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie closed the gap on the top six with a 3-2 home win over Villach, while the Moser Medical Graz99ers won two games in a row for the first time this season. HK SZ Olimpija celebrated a 3-2 home win over EC-KAC after a shootout.
HCB Südtirol Alperia defeated BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg 4-1 at home and won for the tenth time in a row, as the South Tyroleans equaled their longest winning streak dating back to 2020. The runners-up are now just one point short of claiming a place in the top six for the first time this season. Bolzano decided the game with the Vorarlber team in the final period: Dustin Gazley (45.) gave the home side the lead after a solo effort, two goals on the power play by Ford (47./PP1) and Gazley again (51./PP1) rounded off the ultimately clear victory.
Salzburg back on top
EC Red Bull Salzburg has retaken the lead in standings in the 24th round of the win2day ICE Hockey League, as the reigning champions won 6-2 at Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey. Philipp Wimmer put Salzburg, which trailed 1-2 after the first period, on the winning track in the 49th minute with his second goal of the season. Troy Bourke (57.), Dennis Robertson (59.) and Lucas Thaler (60.) made sure of a clear victory for the visitors towards the end as they notched up their second win in a row.
Salzburg knocked Steinbach Black Wings Linz out of first place with their 16th win of the season. The Upper Austrians were beaten 1-2 by Hydro Fehérvár AV19, leaving them without a point for the first time in seven games. Emilio Romig (37.) deservedly equalized the Hungarian team's opening goal by Guillaume Leclerc (15.) but Linz had no answer to Fehérvár captain Janos Hari's powerplay goal two and a half minutes before the end. It was Hari's tenth goal of the season.
Innsbruck reduces gap to the top 6
HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie has closed the gap on the top six in the win2day ICE Hockey League. After the 3-2 home win over EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV, which played with their best line-up for the second time in a row, the eighth-placed Tyroleans are now only four points behind sixth-placed HC Pustertal, which did not play this time. Innsbruck, which did not allow Villach a second of power play in this game, made up for a deficit in the second period. Kevin Roy had the perfect response to the Carinthians' equalizer in the 44th minute. The "Adler" were beaten away from home for the fourth time in a row.
Graz wins two in a row for the first time this season
The Moser Medical Graz99ers have won two games in a row for the first time this season. The team at the bottom of the table followed up Friday's victory over Fehérvár with a 4-3 road win after overtime at the spusu Vienna Capitals. The team from Graz took the lead three times and had to concede the equalizer three times. In the end, captain Taylor Matson (63./PP1), who took advantage of an overtime situation to score the game-winner, decided the game.
HK SZ Olimpija also recorded a win outside of regulation in the 24th round: In front of over 2,500 spectators, the "Dragons" prevailed against the EC-KAC 3-2 after a shootout. The Slovenians took the lead twice against Klagenfurt, with the "Rotjacken" equalizing both times in the power play. Goalie Luka Kolin, who made a total of 44 saves, saved the decisive penalty against Lukas Haudum.
