HCB Südtirol Alperia won 5-1 against HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie in a duel of two still unbeaten teams on Friday, to equal their starting record of four wins from 2013. EC Red Bull Salzburg remained unbeaten too, with David Kickert recording his second shutout for the win2day ICE Hockey League leaders in a 3-0 home win over HC Pustertal. With 48 saves, Anthony Morrone was mainly responsible for HK SZ Olimpija's 3-2 road win in Vienna. Vice-champion Hydro Fehérvár AV19 showed a superior performance, EC-KAC and Steinbach Black Wings Linz grabbed a win after a shootout.
On Saturday, HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie will have the chance to redeem themselves, when they host Steinbach Black Wings Linz (7.15 pm live on live.ice.hockey).

After 2013, HCB Südtirol Alperia started into a championship with four wins in a row for the second time. The two-time champion inflicted the first defeat of the season on HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie with a 5-1 Friday night, as the "Foxes" convinced also in their fourth home game with great quality in the defense and a strong Sam Harvey (25 saves). The decision came with three goals in the middle frame. Dustin Gazley collected three assists, Mike Halmo recorded a brace.



Salzburg remains unbeaten after Kickert’s second shutout

Leaders EC Red Bull Salzburg also claimed a win in their fifth game of the season and remain on maximum points after a dominant 3-0 win over HC Pustertal Wölfe. David Kickert also recorded a shutout in his second outing of the season. The goals were scored by three Austrians with Florian Baltram (2.), Benjamin Nissner (31./PP1) and Peter Schneider (59./EN).

HK SZ Olimpija also benefited from a strong goalkeeping performance. 58 saves by Anthony Morrone were needed to secure a 3-2 road win against the spusu Vienna Capitals. It was the second win of the season for the Slovenians, the second in an away game. Vienna, which again failed to score a powerplay goal, lost for the third time in the current championship.

KAC and Linz win it in shootout
EC-KAC, having its best lineup for the first time this season available, claimed its third win in a row with a 3-2 victory at Moser Medical Graz99ers, but only secured it after the penalty shootout. The Klagenfurter gave a 2-0 lead in the last seven minutes with goals against in each case shorthanded. Matt Fraser then fixed the extra point only with the 20th penalty.


The Steinbach Black Wings Linz, on the other hand, made their comeback to the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg perfect in the shootout: Shawn St-Amant (26.) and Stefan Gaffal (60.) - who scored ten seconds left - each provided the equalizer. Michael Haga then scored the decisive goal in the penalty shootout. Linz won for the second time in a row, while the Vorarlberg side also picked up at least a point in their second home game.

Fehervar dominats newcomer
New fourth in the win2day ICE Hockey League is Hydro Fehérvár AV19, which recorded their third win of the season with a 5-2 home victory over Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey. The runners-up were superior to the league newcomers in many respects - and were already 3-0 ahead midway through the game. Ten of the Hungarians' players entered the scoresheet. Asiago's top goal scorer Nick Saracino went scoreless for the first time this season. The Italians lost their fourth game in a row.
