The third quarter-final clash between the KAC and the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg saw a third shutout victory on Thursday. This time it was a very clear 7:0 in favour of the regular season winners. Klagenfurt set the course for victory in the first period with three goals within three and a half minutes. They even pulled away to 7:0 by the 40th minute - Thomas Hundertpfund and Manuel Ganahl each scored a brace. Goalie Sebastian Dahm recorded 20 saves and celebrated his second shutout in a row. The KAC also took the lead in the quarter-final series for the first time.

EC Red Bull Salzburg won the third game against Steinbach Black Wings Linz 5:1 at home. The Red Bulls were very compact in the Eisarena Salzburg and took an early lead: Thomas Raffl was fouled on a breakaway in the first minute and Troy Bourke buried the penalty. Mario Huber added a second in the sixth minute. Julian Pusnik (22nd/PP) scored the only Linz goal of the evening early in the middle period. However, Salzburg showed consistent defensive work and captain Thomas Raffl restored the two-goal lead. In the end, the Red Bulls celebrated a deserved 5:1 victory after further goals from Genoway and Raffl. The reigning champions thus went ahead again in the series.

Pustertal wins in overtime
Hydro Fehérvár AV19 travelled to Bruneck for the first game on the back of two wins. The Hungarians got off to a good start and took the lead in the third minute through Daniel Leavens. Akos Mihaly increased it early in the middle period, but Pustertal turned the game in its favour with three goals from Schofield, Petan and Morley. The 3:2 lead lasted until the 58th minute, when McGauley equalised on power play. The second of three games so far thus went into over time. This time, the home side had the better end to the game thanks to Morley's second goal. The South Tyroleans thus shortened the series, with game four taking place again in Bruneck on Friday.

Bolzano secures match points
HCB Südtirol Alperia was the first team to secure match pucks. The team from Bolzano also won their third clash with EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV. The hosts clearly beat VSV by 6:1, scoring their first four goals on the power play. Bolzano again opened the scoring through Josh Teves in a game that was rough at times, with major penalties for both sides. The home team steadily extended their lead and led 6:0 after 47 minutes thanks to a Gazley goal (the forward recorded one goal and two assists). The South Tyroleans can now advance to the semi-finals on Saturday in Villach - PULS 24 will be showing the game LIVE.
