Bolzano gets road win in Vienna

On Tuesday the teams ranked 2-4 came much closer to Vienna Capitals again as champions HC Bolzano beat the leaders on the road. Fehervar AV19 earned an overtime win in Klagenfurt thanks to a Bence Stipsicz brace.

Salzburg beat Villach 7:3 with scoring 15 goals in the last two games. The match was a mere 67 seconds old when Nico Feldner opened the scoring with his first EBEL goal. After MacGregor Sharp getting the equalizer on PP, Ryan Duncan and Dustin Gazley put the hosts 3:1 up. In the middle period both teams scored two goals with Salzburg restoring the two-goal lead twice. With ten minutes to go John Hughes made the game safe and soon later Florian Baltram rounded off the scoring.

spusu Vienna Capitals suffered a third successive defeat, the season's first at home. However, the first period it was all Vienna who wasted lots of chances. Former Bolzano player Chris DeSousa opened the scoring early but Crescenzi tied it in the final minute. Things changed after restart with the foxes pressing. As a result Markus Nordlund (PP) and Mike Blunden scored two goals within eight seconds. While Bolzano goalie Irving had some more good saves in the third, Daniel Glira made the game safe.

Moser Medical Graz99ers are still on the track of Vienna as the team of head coach Doug Mason beat Znojmo on the road. Goalie Robin Rahm made his debut and earned a 4:0 shutout. Daniel Oberkofler made the breakthrough in the 7th minute. Despite Graz being the better team for the remainder of the period it remained 0:1. After a goalless second the visitors doubled the lead after 45 minutes when Zusevics found the back of the net. With two power play goals from Weiahger and Grabowsky the 99ers earned a 4:0 shutout.

Liwest Black Wings Linz celebrated another comeback win! In Innsbruck, the Upper Austrians came back twice and hold the upper hand - 4:3. Michael Boivin opened the scoring in the first but joy was short-lived as Stefan Gaffal tied it even before the first intermission. Linz came out hard for the second but the hosts scored when Levko Koper was at the right place. Early in the third the guests turned the game within 36 seconds with goals from Troy Rutkowski and Dan DaSilva. After ANdrew Clark's equalizer it was Brian Lebler who scored the game winner for Linz' first win in Innsbruck after 4 consecutive defeats.

Despite getting an early lead Klagenfurt lost their home game against Fehervar after overtime. The Carinthians took the lead thanks to Stefan Geier's early goal but Bence Stipsicz tied it halfway through the first. After a goalless middle period the hosts were out of luck when Clemens Unterweger only hit the post in the third. Both teams wasted some PPs and the game went into overtime. In the extra session it was once again Stipsicz who got the bonus point for the Hungarians.

Dornbirn Bulldogs – KHL Medvescak Zagreb 5:2 (1:1, 2:1, 2:0)

After ending the losing streak against Graz on Sunday, the Bulldogs were trailing early in their home game against Zagreb. Sondre Olden's pass was deflected by a Dornbirn skate in the own net after five minutes. In the final minute of the first Brodie Reid scored the equalizer and this was the turning point. The hosts had the momentum and a brace by Joel Broda got them on winning ways in the second. Nikolai Lemtyugov pulled one back before the second intermission, though. With ten minutes to go in the game Brodie Dupont restored the two-goal lead and Michael Parks rounded off the scoring.
