Bolzano go through to CHL knockout stage

HC Bolzano are through to the knockout rounds of Champions Hockey League and go through as group runners up after beating Polish side Tychy at home. WIth a 6:2 home defeat against ZSC Lions, Vienna Capitals missed promotion, though.

In front of 3.000 spectators HC Bolzano got off a good start. Halfway through the first Blunden opened the scoring and even before the intermission Luca Frigo doubled the lead. At the midway point of the game the hosts added a brace with Blunden and Insam making it 4:0. It looked like the foxes were safe but Tychy stroke back. The Polish side scored three goals to make it a one-goal game. Early in the third the guests scored the euqalizer but Bolzano promptly geared up. Matti Kuparinen restored Bolzano's lead and added one one more round off the scoring - 6:4.

Caps also lose home game against Zurich
Vienna Capitals were with their back to the wall in the home game against Zurich and things did not go better when the guests opened the scoring early in the first. The Swiss side added two more goals until the end of the first but Peter Schneider pulled one back early in the middle frame. At the halfway point of the game Zurich made it safe when Roman Wick and Jérôme Bachofner made it a four-goal game. After Kelsey Tessier scored Vienna's second of the night, Bachofner finished off the scoring for a 6:2 road win.
