Perfect 18 points from six home games and a score of 21:7 is the home record of HCB Südtirol Alperia in the win2day ICE Hockey League. Values that hardly any other team in Europe can boast. In addition, the Foxes only need two more home wins to set their own home record. In the South Tyrol derby, however, the Bolzano fortress faces a tough test, as the Foxes have not recorded a win against HC Pustertal in the Sparkasse Arena for three games.

HCB Südtirol Alperia is the leader of the win2day ICE Hockey League table after twelve games. They owe the top position mainly to their home strength, which is almost unchallenged in Europe in the 22/23 season. Across Europe, only three other teams in the respective top leagues are still perfect with at least six home games. While Slovan Bratislava and Zvolen, two teams from the Slovakian Extraliga, also recorded 18 points from six games, the Danish team Herning Blue Fox is already at a perfect 21 points from seven games.

Teams in Europe without losing points in home games:

  • Herning Blue Fox (DEN-Metal Ligaen), 7 games, 21 points, 29:8 goals.
  • Slovan Bratislava (SVK-Extraliga), 6 games, 18 points, 31:6 goals
  • HCB Südtirol Alperia (win2day ICE), 6 games, 18 points, 21:7 goals
  • Zvolen (SVK-Extraliga), 6 games, 18 points, 24:12 goals
  • Vitkovice (CZE-Extraliga), 5 games, 15 points, 21:8 goals
  • Grenoble (FRA-Ligue Magnus), 5 games, 15 points, 28:5 goals

Foxes attack longest home winning streak

HCB Südtirol Alperia has already recorded eight home wins in a row once in a single season. In the 2019/2020 campaign, the Foxes finished the season with eight wins on the ice without having to go overtime even once. That run, however, was slowed not by a loss, but by the Corona pandemic. Across the season, the South Tyroleans then added two more home wins at the start of the 2020/2021 season before suffering another defeat in the ice wave after a "perfect run" of ten home wins between January 14, 2020 and October 10, 2020.

Bolzano home fortress put to the test in derby

So the Foxes are still missing two home games without a loss of points to set their longest home streak within one season. However, with the South Tyrol derby on Friday against HC Pustertal, one of the hottest teams currently comes to the Palaonda. The Wolves celebrated two canter victories recently: with a goal balance of 15:3, Pustertal goes into the second South Tyrolean derby of the season with a decent amount of self-confidence. In addition, the team from Bruneck has been without defeat for three games in the Palaonda. After the two victories in Bolzano last season, Pustertal also dethroned its local rival for the first time in the Alperia Cup before the start of the championship with a clear 6:0 victory.
